So Long Suckers: [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]'s Daily Show Canceled
Daniels clearly isn't all the way back from offseason knee surgery, and from the looks of things he may never again be the player he once was. Sure, it's a pessimistic outlook, but last season's torn ACL wasn't the first knee injury of his career -- he's torn his ACL three times. Backup tight end Joel Dreessen may have leapfrogged Daniels on the depth chart after last week's performance (5/73/1), leaving the 56% of you who still own Daniels with your easiest decision of the year.
Baltimore Ravens Defense
Forget about the Ravens's real-life performance; for fantasy purposes, they stink. Depending on your scoring system, the Ravens defense ranks either 30th or 31st among 32 teams through four weeks. That's flat-out disgusting. They've been stingy when it comes to giving up yards and points, but they're not getting to the QB and they're not forcing turnovers. The four teams they've played thus far -- Jets,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Bengals, Browns, and Steelers -- aren't exactly world beaters on offense, either. I'm not saying the 92%-owned Ravens will finish the season ranked 30th or 31st, but their days as a fantasy force are officially over. You're probably better off playing the matchups.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], RB, Panthers
Blasphemy, you say? Take away [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]'s fluke TD last week, and he's averaging less than four fantasy points per game. Even with the 55-yard score, he's averaging under seven points per contest. PPR leagues? Forget about it; he's caught three balls in four games. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]'s also taken a backseat -- like back of the cheese bus back seat -- to DeAngelo Williams in the team's non-existent ground game (the 77%-owned [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] is averaging just seven carries per). Never mind that the Panthers offense as a whole was in shambles before they lost Steve Smith to a high ankle sprain. Where's anybody in Carolina going to find room to run when Jimmy Clausen has no one to throw to? Michael Bush (42%), BenJarvus Green-Ellis (43%), and Ryan Torain (11%) are far superior options.
Steve Smith, WR, Giants
PPR and deeper leagues aside, I can't find a single reason why anyone would want to hang onto the Giants' Steve Smith. The simple truth is that he's a possession receiver (9.6 YPC) who doesn't get into the end zone (Smith's scored three TDs in his last 16 contests). Think about it -- he's averaging just 5.3 points per game in standard formats, despite leading the Giants in targets/receptions! There's no question Hakeem Nicks is the new sheriff in town among Giants wideouts, with real-life No. 3, Mario Manningham (14/238/1, 57% owned), the more fantasy-friendly asset because of his big-play ability.
Michael Crabtree, WR, 49ers
Crabtree's averaging under four receptions and less than 35 yards per game through four weeks. You know things are bad when a five-catch, 58-yard performance in Week 4 qualifies as a "big game". Forget about Crabtree's name or first-round pedigree -- what can you possibly expect from the No. 3 option in the 49ers passing game? Frank Gore and Vernon Davis will always be Alex Smith's first two looks, and last time I checked, San Francisco wasn't exactly a juggernaut on offense. I see more upside in Brandon Lloyd (60%), Kevin Walter (72%), and Lance Moore (64%). Not only are those guys owned in fewer leagues than Crabtree, but they play on teams that actually score points.
